Making an Original Character
Quick concept vs. full character sheet
The two output modes solve different problems. A quick concept is for when you have a slot to fill and just need a character with a pulse: a name, a want, and one memorable detail. A full character sheet is for the people you’ll spend real time with, where appearance, backstory, flaws, and relationships all matter.
A good habit is to generate a few quick concepts, pick the one that grabs you, then run the full sheet to flesh it out.
What makes an OC feel real
Flaws and contradictions are what separate a character from a list of traits. A brave character who freezes around their family, a kind one who lies to avoid conflict. The gap between what someone wants to be and what they actually do is where the interesting writing lives. The flaws and motivations fields are doing the heavy lifting here, so don’t skip them.
OC generator vs. character prompt generator
This page hands you a finished character. If you’d rather build one yourself and just want ideas to spark from (personality traits, backstory hooks, flaws to consider), use the Character Prompt Generator instead. One gives you the character; the other gives you the questions.
